What Are Common Air Conditioning Problems?

McKinley Heating Service Experts is here with some of the most typical A/C problems in Edmonton.

  • No Cool Air

If you can hear your A/C equipment operating but there isn’t cool air coming out, you may need to have your refrigerant levels analyzed. Refrigerant is what helps make sure the air blowing from your air conditioning system is actually cool. Call McKinley Heating Service Experts and we’ll come out and examine your refrigerant levels and look into why your system is not producing cool air.

  • Fan Won’t Rotate

A reason your condenser fan may not be rotating could be that it simply burned out and you require a replacement. Humidity tends to cause more condensation so another problem to watch for is that the water is not draining correctly or that the drain is blocked. If you can verify these things, you may be able to pinpoint the culprit; if not, give McKinley Heating Service Experts a call and we can look into what has stopped your condenser fan from rotating and discuss your options to get your system up and running again.

  • Not Cooling Properly

First, try lowering your thermostat. It sounds ridiculous but sometimes we forget the obvious. If that doesn’t get your A/C cooling, take a look at the air filter. If the air filter is blocked, it could cause major cooling problems. Another problem that could cause your insufficient cooling is that your AC equipment is not sized properly, and unfortunately this is a frequent issue when homes are constructed. McKinley Heating Service Experts will come out and do an analysis to determine if the size of your unit is causing your troubles.

  • System is Short Cycling

If your system is short cycling, or turning on or off continuously, it could mean one of several things. One is that your condenser or evaporator is dirty and in need of cleaning. Once the unit is cleaned and all blockages removed, you may be good to go. Remember that humidity also plays a role so if your home cools to the correct temperature, but then the humidity causes your home to warm back up, it could result in on-again, off-again air conditioning because the equipment is having to work harder to keep your home cool.

No matter your issue, whatever AC trouble you run into, McKinley Heating Service Experts is here for you 24 hours a day so we can get you comfortable quickly.
