We are trudging through the last of the weeks of winter but we still have to have our furnaces, especially during cool nights. Not much is worse than going to bed at night and realizing your furnace won’t start up. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are some things you can check yourself before calling McKinley Heating Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should change standard air filters monthly. If you fail to do so, they can end up clogged, obstructing air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the heating system won’t turn on. Also, confirm the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem silly, but make sure the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so verify the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently flipped to the “Off” position.
If you review all these things and your furnace will still not start up, give McKinley Heating Service Experts a call at 780-800-7092 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
