Here’s What to Do When Your Furnace Won’t Ignite
We are trudging through the last several weeks of winter but we still have to have our furnaces, especially during cool nights. Not much is worse than laying down at night and realizing your furnace won’t start up. If this happens to you, here are some things you can check yourself before calling McKinley Heating Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should swap out standard air filters each month. If you do not, they can get clogged, blocking air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
See if turning the temperature up a few degrees will get the furnace to turn on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, verify the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem obvious, but confirm the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently switched to the “Off” position.
If you check all these things and your heating equipment will still not start up, give McKinley Heating Service Experts a call at 780-800-7092 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
